CLOUD SECURITY

Cloud computing is the dynamic provisioning of IT services on demand from a cloud computing environment. These services can be infrastructure (computing and networking devices), computing platforms (machines with specific configurations), and software applications.
Cloud computing allows for scaling computing resources up or down based on need. Payment is made only for the actual resources used. Particularly for small and medium organizations, cloud computing saves organizations from spending on dedicated computing resources while not being certain if the demand is going to match them. Cloud computing environments can be public, private, or hybrid.
Moving your IT needs to public cloud providers inherently means losing some control over your IT environment and bears some risks.
In this Assignment, you will analyze your work environment and the issues involved in moving part of the business to the cloud.

WEEKLY RESOURCES
To prepare for this Assignment:
• Review this week’s Learning Resources.
• Search the Walden Library and the Internet for credible resources on the topic.
• Consider the context of your current organization, or one with which you are familiar. Assume that the organization is seeking to expand its business in new directions. More computing power and IT services will be needed to support this expansion. However, the size of the new business line and the scale of expansion are currently uncertain. The organization is considering the possibility of utilizing cloud computing to support this expansion.
BY DAY 7
Submit a 2- to 4-page paper (not including title or references) in APA format that addresses the following:
• Provide a short description of the organization you chose.
• Explain the benefits and risks that might come with using cloud computing in your organization.
• Compare these risks and benefits with those that are inherent in cloud computing.
• Draw a conclusion on whether the organization should move to using cloud services or not.
• Recommend mitigation strategies to reduce the risks of moving to the cloud.
Refer to the Week 9 Assignment Rubric for specific grading elements and criteria. Your Instructor will use this grading rubric to assess your work.
Your document should be 2–4 pages long (not including the list of references), but it is the quality of the work that is important, not the number of pages. Cite and reference all sources using APA format and style guidelines and submit in a single document.
